Around 2005 I went to work for a small family owned welding service and supply company. This company was started in the 1930\'s in SanFrancisco. They were selling welding supplies and equipment to various contractors throughout the SF/Oakland Bay Area. Many of their customers were involved with the construction of the Golden Gate Bridge. The first officially designated \"Hard Hat Area\" in America was the Golden Gate Bridge construction site. One day, not long after I had started, the owner took me to a corner of the shop and showed me a small stack of these hard hats. He explained that they were leftover stock from the \"old days\" and that these were what the guys building the Golden Gate Bridge wore when they built it.
Fast forward to the here and now, I was able to acquire this stack of leftover new old stock vintage 1930\'s Bullard Hard Boiled Hat\'s. They have never been used and the only wear is from being openly stored and stacked in a dirty warehouse/shop environment for 75+ years.
This Hard Hat is a size 7 and in excellent condition for its age.Shows signs of years of sitting in a fairly dusty, dirty environment. The inner headband is in excellent condition with no cracks. The webbing has surface cracks and is brittle but all 4 straps are structurally sound and in otherwise good condition. There is also a small label sewn to the headband with the words\"LOT\" & \"PRICE\", and also \"7 1/8\" for the finished size. Please check the pictures carefully. This is a rare opportunity to obtain a real piece of history associated with the construction of the Golden Gate Bridge as well as the early days of industrial safety equipment.
