Vintage FDNY Fire Helmet Shield Front, 6\". Marine Lt.?:
$685.00

Vintage Leather Cairns &Bros. Fire Helmet Shield or Front. Measures approx. 6 1/4\" in height.White with green letters & numbers. The S and the 3 look black, but, but I think they are darkened from age. The \"QUAD\" is clearly green, and there is a scratch at the top that shows green underneath the white. Based on very limited research and information from the previous owner, I think this was a New York City Fire Departmenthelmet shield.(Marine Lieutenant?). Marked3 SQUAD.Any help with identification would be appreciated - I will post any corrections. There are a number of scuffs from wear on the front, otherwise very good condition, with wear appropriate to the age. Please see pictures for detail.

This was one of a group of six helmet fronts purchased from a neighbor. It was from her grandfather\'s estate, who she identified as a Fire Chief in New York City (Manhattan), who retired in the 1960\'s and moved to this area.

SATISFACTION GUARANTEED.

I am listing six different helmet shields. If you purchase more than one, there will be no additional shipping charge ($4.00 for one, two, or all six).

Additional information from my neighbor: These fronts are from the estate of Arthur O\'Connor, who retired from the FDNY in 1975. He was also a WW2 veteran. Google search revealed that he won the 1959 JAMES GORDON BENNETT Award as a Captain in the 4th Squad. All seven of the fronts I have listed belonged to him.
