Vintage Garton Kidillac Pedal Car, Chain Drive:
$500.00

In a continued and dedicated effort to clear my barn of longaccumulated stuff, I am offering this vintage Garton Kidillac for sale. To my understanding, the Kidillac wasproduced in the 50’s and until 1963 and was designed to mimic the 1950Cadillac. The Kidillac was Garton’s mostelaborate pedal car and was a top of the line offering at the time. It is highly sought after today and is in limitedavailability.

This 60-year-old (ish) pedal car is in exceptionalcondition. The paint job (about 10 yearsold) is not professionally done but the paint has preserved and protected themetal very well. I see no rust, cracks,or holes anywhere though there are a few minor dents as can be seen in thephotos. The body is very solid. As can be seen in the photos there are chips, rubs and scratches to the paint.

The undercarriage is also in excellent solid condition. This car has a pedal and chain drive system (instead ofthe less elaborate pedal-crank drive system). The chain and sprockets are in excellent condition and are fullyfuntional. The ball bearings on the rearaxle are funtional but are worn. Thetires, pedal pads, Continental spare tire, and hubcaps are original replacementparts. The mirror is missing the “glass”and the antennae is broken off. In the30 years that I have owned this toy, it has sat in dry, smoke free storage.

In the right hands, this Kidillac can be restored to a trulygreat show piece. Garton offered manyoptional upgrades including decals, chrome trim, working headlights, horn, hoodornament, etc., and all of this is still readily available for purchase throughafter-market distributors.

This toy weighs about 42 pounds. I will ship it fully assembled. Cost for shipping will be actual cost fromzip code 38401, plus $7 for box and packing. I will ship by whatever carrier the buyer chooses if it is locally available to me. The approximate dimensions on this toy are 17 inches high, 20 incheswide, and 48 inches long. Please do notpay the invoice until actual shipping cost can be determined.

Please ask questions if you have any. I acceptPaypal or personal check, though personal checks must clear the bank prior toshipping. Thank you, and good luck!

4/23/14: I thought I\'d set this post up so that no shipping cost would be indicated, but there it is anyway. Please note that shipping will not be that low. I once mailed a similar item and as I recall it was somewhere between $75 and $100. As stated in the item description, I will charge actual shipping cost plus $7 and by which ever carrier the buyer prefers. Will work out carrier and exact shipping cost with the buyer prior to paying the invoice. Thanks.

As I continue the archeological dig in the barn, I have found three of the five original hub caps for this car. Also, one of the two original pedal pads. All in good condition, just not enough to make complete sets so I bought replacements way back when. I will include these with the sale.
Also, though the listing states otherwise, I will accept returns for any reason. I will refund the sale price of the item only (shipping non-refundable), the buyer must pay return postage, and the car must return back to me in the same condition as when I boxed it up. After the sale at the time postage cost is settled, I will discuss with the buyer the inclusion of shipping insurance. This will be the buyer\'s option, but it is recommended. Thanks again!
