A friend asked me to put this train set on for her. She told me it was her Grandfathers. She said it has been sitting in a closet for years and she does not know if it runs properly.
For the record, I am stating loud and clear, I KNOW NOTHING ABOUT TRAIN SETS!
So, if you are really interested in this train set, feel free to ask questions, which I will try to answer.
This train set was made by Louis Marx & Company, Inc. There is a number stamped on one end of the box: 64362. I am guessing that this train was made in the early 1950\'s.
This set comes with 54 pieces of track:
6 - 4 inch straight pieces
21 - 7.5 inch straight pieces
20 - 8 inch curved pieces
2 crossroads
2 switch tracks
3 misc pieces
There are 5 car boxes inside the main box, but one is empty.
The 4 train cares in the box are as follows:
*HO Marx 1540 Central Railroad Company Of New Jersey.
*HO Marx 20298 New York Central System.
*HO Marx 160149 Southern Pacific.
*HO Marx BM 7700
There is also a power pack with speed/direction lever.
There are no markings on the bottom of the engine, but all the other cars are marked on bottom with a circle and the letters MAR in the circle.
Everything looks in good clean condition to me, but as I already stated, I know nothing about train sets.
