This is a really nice Midland CB radio and although I can\'t say for sure if it transmits or not, I did hook it up to a bench top power supply and the mete and channel selectors light up and when the mike is keyed, the mete needle moves to the right some. Had the external antenna hooked up but inside the garage and not much of a ground plane(magnetic mount), just noise came from the microphone speaker. It should fit in a Regional A priority box for somewhere around $7-8 if you live on the coast, less if you live closer to Iowa. For some reason I cn\'t get the sale to show Regional A prices, but my invoice allows it. My zip code is 50613 if you want to pre-calculate the regional A shipping vs. parcel select. The battery pack on top holds AA\'s for mobile use and all the springs and connections have no rust or corrosion on them. You can plug in the battery pack using rechargable AA\'s. Since I have no owner\'s manual, there is something necessary about having the \"dummy\" batteries in place and they are also corrosion free. I could find no scratches on the faceplate and there\'s a photo of the serial number for those of you that can research the unit\'s age from that.
