There is paint loss and there are marks that i could not get off. The frame is heavy carved wood and the front has been refinished with a different gold than the original gold that you can see on the sides and back. It is carved in a gently manner and overall i estimate this to be both a early 40\'s frame and painting. The frame measures 21 X 25 overall, The molding is 3 inches wide and 2 3/4 inches deep. The frame is very solid well made, there is patina , darkening, but no breaks or cracks , very stable.
