There is a needle with a hole in it attached to the front of the top part.The two pieces of wood are attached to one anotherby the rectangular metal device that slides in a slot in the upper part, permitting the top part to move forward and backward. Another metal strap holds the two wooden pieces together at the front while this movement is occurring.
It measures approx. 3 1/2\" at the widest x 8 5/8\" long and its longest x 1/2\" thick
