Vintage Pan American Tenor Sax \"Pan American Inst and Case Company\" Ca. 1922:
$224.95

NO INTERNATIONAL SALES!! Too expensive to ship, Mucho dinero!!
Very early Pan American Tenor sax.
Pan American the \"Chevrolet\" of the Conn Line instrumentsConn Loyalist Web Page list indicates 10,000 serial numbers 1922
Bell engraving reads Pan American MODEL , Made By the Pan American Band Inst. & Case CO. Elkhart Ind.
Appears to be similar design as Conn Wonder Improved- one set screw on F key- Mercedes key guard (misaligned)- Back Alt Eb- Patent date and design of serial number. Back Engraving reads:
Pat DEC 8, 1914TP105XXL
Definitely a re-lacquer I can observe silver under the gold lacquer especially around some posts.
Bough for the Otto Link Master Link Mouthpiece it came with.
This is a very old sax > 90 years so there is an accumulation of repairs and reconstructive work
Good- all keys free- newer pads (Image 10)- neck seems straight and recorked can\'t attest to not being a repaired pull down but looks OK- Tone holes appear undamaged- sort of plays within limitations of unsprung register keys- all rollers free, did not attempt to remove rods.- I was able to disassemble and reassemble except for noted 2 seized rods- no major dents- bell undamaged- body appears straight
Known Defects-Screws and springs show rust-Register keys needs new springs (image 11)-Lacquer show stippling (image 9)-Imperfections of lacquer in many locations-Will need work to make playable (swedging, realigning of posts, extraction of stuck rods, maybe new springs...)
Case functional but relatively light weight to other tenor cases. Will pack with plenty of bubble wrap.
This may be a good neck and parts donor sax
