Vintage Trek 850 Antelope MTB Mountain Bike 20\" Tange Double Butted CroMo:
$275.00

Vintage Trek 850 Antelope mountain bike. Tange Double Butted Cro-Moly tubing. Very desirable frame that rides great.Has been used, but no rust, paint has scratches, could use a polishing and touchup. Full Suntour XCE Dia Compe Accushift Plus/X-Press set that is shifting great. The frame is on the large side, 20-20.5 inches from the center of the bottom bracket to the top of the seat tube, and 23 inches from the 2 ends of the top tube. Standover height for the top tube is 31 inches.I\'ve lubricated the chain, shifters, deraillers, and installed brand new Jagwire brake pads. The derailleurs did not need adjusting. The headset has no play, and the bottom bracket seems good - no creaks etc.The chain and gearset teeth look good. The rear spin on gears almost look new when they are cleaned up.The wheels are alloy rim Alex X101, with MTB 26\" tires that still have life in them. While servicing the bike, I noticed 3 problems.
- there is some wobble in the main right side crank. I could not feel it, but noticed it while spinning. I suspect the square hole in the crank has wear, and a little creative shimming might fix this. In the worst case, these Suntour cranks are available on , and can be replaced without needing to replace the gears.
- the brake cable housings were replaced in the past without adding ferrules. They brakes work fine, and there is no rust on the cables, so I did not think it was necessary to change anything. Just wanted to point out a shortcoming. The gear cable housings, which are more important, do have ferrules on them.
- there are 2 sets of bottle cage holders - one set is missing the screws.
