Condition: Good pre-owned Vintage. Exterior vinyl covering in golden apricot shows some a little light surface exterior wear & one pink mark on top. Compact interior mirror needs to be reglued in place & has some marks. Brass compact with raised diagonal stripes, original puff with powder residue, decorated empty powder pan. Lipstick tube brass & full with red. Tortoise shell plastic comb with scratches on one side of grip. Gold textured vinyl pockets on interior of case hold all 3 items & are sewn inside, no scuffs, just a little powder residue in nooks & crannies. Dome snap closure on comb pocket, signed Zell on comb pocket. Gold waffle texture case lining. Hinges & clasps work well.
Zell Fifth Avenue, a USA manufacturer began to produce compacts in the 1940s. They did not always sign their cases so ID is often only possible if the original puff is present on compacts. One of the Fifth Avenues. This Vanity Kit outer case was designed in 1948 by a Zell employee William Tamoschat & registered as a patent in 1951. Marketed in 1949 to 1950.
